Massachusetts Recreational Cannabis FAQ

Massachusetts Recreational Cannabis Dispensary FAQ

Your first time visiting a Massachusetts recreational cannabis dispensary can be intimidating, and even a little confusing. Every state does things a little bit differently. At Quincy Cannabis Company we got your back. Our wonderful staff is equipped to help you through your first visit, and every one that follows.

Preparing for your visit

Before you enter a dispensary, make sure you have a valid state-issued identification card.  You do not need to be from Massachusetts, or even the United States. This is required for entry, and no matter your age, we cannot grant you access without an ID. We do not except temporary forms of ID. The following forms are acceptable and cannot be expired

-License

-Passport

-Military ID

-Any other state-issued ID card showing you are 21 years or older.

At Quincy Cannabis Company, we offer a rotating menu that updates as our stock does. Check it out before you come in to save yourself some time at the register!

What to expect inside the shop

A dispensary is a little less hands-on than other shopping experiences. Instead of handling the products available, they are stored behind the counter. Your budtender will help you browse and explore, but we do not have cannabis out on display to touch and handle. Massachusetts state law requires cannabis products to be sold in opaque, resealable, child-resistant packaging.

You’ll be asked if you have a pre-order or are placing a walk-in order. At Quincy Cannabis, we have a designated line for those picking up their pre-order.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! At the register, our budtenders are trained to answer any of your questions and concerns, offering quick and accurate assistance. Once you have decided your order, your budtender will fill the order and return with your products. If you’re stuck between two products, our budtenders are happy to help you choose.

How do I pay?

You’ll likely hear the term “cash is king” used in the cannabis industry. This is due to the ATM fee that our cashless ATMs charge (It is the same as our on-site ATM).  At each register there is a small card reader that functions as a cashless ATM. You will not see a transaction from “Dispensary”, but rather from an ATM on Washington St. We do NOT accept credit cards, checks, or VISA gift cards. We can only accept cash, and any plastic that has a PIN number and can be used at an ATM.

What happens next?

Once you’ve paid and received your product and change (if necessary), you’re ready to go! We offer bags for our customers; however, they are not necessary. If you have a reusable bag, or pockets, we are happy to save a tree! If you drive a car, make sure you secure your cannabis in a safe place, away from the reach of the driver. We recommend keeping your product in your stapled bag until you arrive at your destination. Opted out of a bag? We recommend storing it in your trunk, or in a locked glove box.

Now you’re good to go! Please consider leaving us a review on Google or Leafly telling us about your visit. Make sure to shout out any worker that made your visit special!

Below we have compiled a list of Massachusetts Recreational Cannabis Dispensary FAQs to help give you some further insight before you enter our facility.

  1. What do I need to enter?
    • A valid state-issued ID
      • License
      • Passport
      • State-Issued ID Card
      • Military ID
    • Please note that temporary forms of ID, as well as paper IDs, are not accepted.
    • As well, please ensure your ID is not expired, as your entry will be denied.
  2. Do MA dispensaries track me/save my data?
    • No. The most we will do is take down your name and phone number. The purpose of this is to enroll visitors in our rewards program. Some users opt to have us track their purchase history, so they can confidently return and order the same thing again and again.
  3. How much can I purchase in a day?
    • 1 ounce, or 28g of flower; Nugs & Pre-Rolls
    • This is equivalent to….
      • 5g of concentrate; Dabs, Vape Cartridges, Disposable Vapes, tinctures
      • 500mg of Edibles; Gummies, Drinks, Chocolate bars, etc.
    • Don’t worry about ordering above your limit. Our computer systems will calculate how much cannabis you are purchasing and will never over-sell to you.
  4. How much can I have on my person?
    • When traveling, you can have one ounce on your person. You must travel with your receipt as well for proof of purchase within Massachusetts and keep all cannabis products out of reach of the driver. We recommend keeping your product in your stapled bag until you arrive at your destination. Opted out of a bag? We recommend storing it in your trunk, or in a locked glove box.
  5. What forms of payment do you take?
    • Cash
    • Debit Cards ($3.50 fee)
    • We do NOT accept credit cards, visa gift cards, or checks
    • We DO have an ATM on site with a $3.50 fee.
  6. Do I need to come inside to order?
    • Yes. You can place a pick-up order, however, we do not offer curbside pickup.
  7. Can I take my weed across state lines?
    • No. You must consume your cannabis in the state you purchased it in. Crossing state lines with cannabis is a federal crime.
  8. Does my cannabis expire?
    • All cannabis products are required to go through intense testing. On each product, you will find an expiration date. This date is 1 year after the initial testing. While cannabis does not necessarily ‘expire’ in the same way as other products, once a year goes by, the potency will begin to degrade.
      • In flower, concentrates, and pre-rolls, exposure to oxygen increases the prevalence of CBN, a cannabinoid known to promote relaxation. You may find your older cannabis does not get you as stoned but may make you sleepier than before.
      • In edibles, the expiration date is a little firmer due to the nature of them being food products. While the degradation of THC remains the same as it is in flower, your gummies may lose their texture, and your chocolate may lose its rich flavor. We recommend you treat your edible’s expiration date like you would other food and use caution when consuming expired edibles. Be prepared for them to not hit as hard as they may have prior to them expiring and be wary of overconsumption.
