4 Things to Know: First Time Visiting a MA Recreational Dispensary

Are you ready to dip your toes into the world of cannabis? If you are new to weed, it can be daunting. Your first time visiting a Massachusetts recreational cannabis dispensary can be intimidating, and even a little confusing. Every state does things a little bit differently. Whether it is your first time smoking, or just your first time in MA, you don’t need to do it alone. At Quincy Cannabis Company we got your back. Our wonderful staff is equipped to help you through your first visit, and every one that follows.

Preparing for your visit

Before you enter a dispensary, make sure you have a valid state-issued identification card.  You do not need to be from Massachusetts, or even the United States. This is required for entry, and no matter your age, we cannot grant you access without an ID. We do not except temporary forms of ID. The following forms are acceptable and cannot be expired. Click here for more FAQs.

At Quincy Cannabis Company, we offer a rotating menu that updates as our stock does. Check it out before you come in to save yourself some time at the register!

What to expect inside the shop

Shopping at a recreational dispensary will feel different than other shopping experiences. Instead of handling the products available, they are stored behind the counter. Your budtender will help you browse and explore, but we do not have cannabis out on display to touch and handle. Massachusetts state law requires cannabis products to be sold in opaque, resealable, child-resistant packaging.

As you walk in, our security guards will scan your ID before you may enter. (What kinds of ID do we accept?) You’ll be asked if you have a pre-order or are placing a walk-in order. At Quincy Cannabis, we have a designated line for those picking up their pre-order.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! At the register, our budtenders are trained to answer any of your questions and concerns, offering quick and accurate assistance. Once you have decided your order, your budtender will fill the order and return with your products. If you’re stuck between two products, our budtenders are happy to help you choose.

At some dispensaries (Including Quincy Cannabis Company!) there is an offering for flower purchases known as Deli Style. Like a deli at a grocery store, here you can view your product before you buy – you will even be able to watch while it is weighed. We currently offer deli style on weekends only.

How do I pay?

You’ll likely hear the term “cash is king” used in the cannabis industry. This is due to the ATM fee that our cashless ATMs charge (It is the same as our on-site ATM).  At each register there is a small card reader that functions as a cashless ATM. You will not see a transaction from “Dispensary”, but rather from an ATM on Washington St. We do NOT accept credit cards, checks, or VISA gift cards. We can only accept cash, and any plastic that has a PIN number and can be used at an ATM.
There is a $3.50 fee for all card transactions and on-site ATM withdrawals.

What happens next?

Once you’ve paid and received your product and change (if necessary), you’re ready to go! We offer bags for our customers; however, they are not necessary. If you have a reusable bag, or pockets, we are happy to save a tree! If you drive a car, make sure you secure your cannabis in a safe place, away from the reach of the driver. We recommend keeping your product in your stapled bag until you arrive at your destination. Opted out of a bag? We recommend storing it in your trunk, or in a locked glove box.

Once your supply runs out, be sure to come back and visit us. We always have fresh products and new specials running.

Please consider leaving us a review on Google or Leafly telling us about your visit. Make sure to shout out any worker that made your visit special!
